Lawrence Avenue/ Western Avenue and Irving Park Road Urban Design Planning


Eco Vidal Design planned the urban design for Lawrence Ave., Western Avenue and Irving Park Road as
part of the Urban Works team and in collaboration with Site Design Group.

The plan for Lawrence included:

    - Bike lanes
    - Bioswales
    - Permeable pavers
    - Bump outs for pedestrian crossing safety
    - Numerous of new trees on grates

The implementation of this project on Lawrence Ave. made it a major example of City Stormwater Management.

The plan for Western Avenue also explored the possibility of adding Bus Rapid Transit to the corridor that today continues to be explored. Western is a long City corridor that intersects with several CTA elevated train lines and will improve the transit communication of the City’s neighborhoods to each other.
